they asked me if i do alot of wheelies becuase there was oil in the airbox. I have only done a few but i do stand it up on the rear tires and grab bar when i clean it. Dont know if that caused the oil to go into the airbox. They said that should have nothing to do with the bearing but they were just wondering why the oil was there

Oh yea and 14.5hrs of labor at $75/hr

is $1087.50

so i would of been looking at a total of $2219.19 but then agian i never would of left it with them i would of done it my self.

OK, and why did they have to replace all of those parts? Sounds a little extreme to me. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for you, but damn it was a crank bearing do you really think all that was needed.

Sounds like Warranty abuse to me, not form you but from your dealer.

They probably crated you a new motor!

Parts are pretty standard for this type of failure! Takes out crank, usually 1 case that the oil pump runs in( but sometimes scratches the other) ,all bearings and seals have to be put in cases. piston and cylinder can get scored from the metal from the bearing.

Some of the metal goes through the oil screen and that is what takes out the cases, pump, bearings and remain in the cooler!

I have seen some repaired by patching and it usually causes a
failure. They took the only safe route!

Thats the only way I would have accepted the bike back. If I pay for Honda quality and an extended warranty I expect them to fix it right. I dont want a motor that has been patched back together.

Thats all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there would be more you need.

Sounds like Warranty abuse to me, not form you but from your dealer. peices of metal from the bearing went through the engine and caused more damage. Eveything needed to be fixed. Plus i rode it a few times before i brought it in so that didnt help the parts any.

I noticed that in the parts list from the dealer it lists... "valve, reed" What's that? there's no reed valves in a four stroke

It's a "reed" type check valve that is used in the oil return system!
