Hey guys...I just put on my 38mm air stryker and finally was able to get the air tube that runs from the air box onto the carb after warming it up a bit with some boiling water. Now, I realized that the OEM clamp won't fit the larger diameter of the carb! Everywhere I have looked only carrries 1/2 width clamps, but this is too wide for the groove in the air tube. Anyone have this problem too? Does anyone know where I can find a narrower width clamp (like 1/4 inch)?

I would think an automotive or hardware store should carry them. You might be able to find a quad or bike that comes stock with a bigger carb and get one off it. Go to a quad/bike shop and find a bike that has a 38-42 carb stock and order a clamp for one of those.

If you want the OEM look .. get one for a Cr 500 from the dealer

If you want an easy temporary solution (or permanent solution, if you don't care about looks) you can easily take several smaller clamps to make one larger clamp. Just undo them, pull out the ends, and stick them into the next clamp down the line. It doesn't look as pretty, but it will clamp just fine.

Thanks for the info guys. I went to the dealer yesterday. They had a crf450r on the floor which has a 40mm carb, so I ordered the clamp to use with my 38mm carb. I think it should work...it's only 2mm off.
I'm with JTR....better to find something that is designed to work vs blowing up your motor with a cheap fix (especially since I just have my entire motor rebuilt!). I agree with Beerock to do it if you're in a pinch though...

Well, I looked on the crf450 and there was nearly 1/2 inch of space between the two ends of the clamp when tightened, so I think it would work on the 38mm. I'll find out this week when the part comes in...
