I know that there are a lot of threads about this but i have a different question. I know that the vortex cdi is the best (from what everyone says) but i am just not that excited about it to pay that much money. All i want is the extra rpms so i can rev out longer. What other options do i have to choose from. I just want one that plugs in and thats it. I dont care about being able to have different settings. What do you guys recommend?

Actually I think the best one to buy will be the dyna when it is released. There is ALOT of research and testing still going on with it.

Something new for all quad riders to take a look at.
Go to www.trengaracing.com Check out the hotwire/coil kit for most model atvs. This gives you a much larger spark and around
6-8% hp increase along with the throttle response most 450r riders are looking for. I was talking to quite a few people who own these and they were all very pleased with the results. With the vortex and dyna ignitions I think reliablity could be a issue. I've heard these are great cdi's and you notice a huge difference. But was the 450r motor made to rev this high? Its just my feeling that if you have a race motor that this may cause to much stress on the piston ect. Just a thought, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanx killa i am really interested in how well that hot wire works. If you have any other information on that please let me know. I also think i might buy the srp cdi box its on ebay for $120. It might be a cheaper one but all i want out of it is the extra rpms and i think 120 bucks is worth the extra rpms because with my setup those rpms should help a lot.

Well I know you have to mount the new coil somewere to your frame and then from the coil you run another wire to the spark plug. Its kind of hard to explain and personally I don't know to well myself. You can call trenga racing and ask them if you have further questions.

$159 I believe. I think this is just to high of a price for a rev box.

Advantage has a CDI Hi-Rev box out now for the TRX450R, I think they're around $120-$130 from JH Racing, but dont quote me on that price.

All of these cheap cdi's are bad for the quad, it will hurt your power an only give u from 250 to 400 rpms. They are all made by procom. they are not a true cdi.

I was looking at their products and I saw this Programming Kit $211.00. Do you have to buy this kit in order to program your ignition?

02-16-2005, 07:39 PM

go to 450r.net to see review of it, in a couple of days

It has 4 curves already programmed into it. You can switch between them with the selector switch.

You only need the programming kit if you want to create your own custom curve, modify the rev limit they program in at the factory, or to set up the other features of the ignition like the rpm activated switches.

By looking at that pic, that is a Procom box that has been relabeled. The Procom is the only box on the market that I have seen where they do not buy the connectors from the company that makes the for the OEM supplier. Procom molds their own to save a little $, and you can see the difference in the mold between that and OEM.

how do you like the rev box bauer? I just want one because i want the rpms i dont care about programming it. Can you tell a big difference in the rpms or is it not worth buying?

it feels more snappier, and more responsive.
I still hit the limeter, but have some mods done to the motor.
But, I feel it is worth the money.
Their is a full review of this at another site.
