From the information I got the 400ex are 19 1/4" and the 450R shocks are 20".

Will they bolt on? Yes.

Will the be 100% right, NO.

FYI - Most long travel 450r arms require 19.5" and a few require 20". Chances are, the 19.25" will work for you. If you don't have arms yet, you can be sure to buy the ones for 19.5" shocks and you'll be fine. Your machine will never know the difference of 1/4".

they will not work on a 450r because the shocks are designed much differently. Spring rate is different as well as the stroke of the shock. Without rebound adjustment geting them to work properly would not be likely.
