Got a pretty sweet deal on this here Alpine head unit from Crutchfield. Alpine's website shows it as $500 msrp, Crutchfield shows retail as $449, and the local American TV has it for $449. Crutchfield has it on clearance for $299. I did some shopping around, and I don't think there's any way I could do better for three hundred bucks. Add in that I didn't have to pay sales tax, they include the wiring harness and mount kit for free, and the shipping was free, and I think I did pretty good.

I had an alpine similar to that and loved it until it got stolen. Now I have an eclipse and wish I still had my alpine.

Eclipse makes a helluva deck, but I've always had a thing for an Alpine (maybe it's something to do with that old line from Eazy-E's "Boyz In Tha Hood", lol). This is probably the 9th or 10th Alpine deck I've bought. I think I'm going to get the satellite radio interface for it (don't know if I'll go with XM or Sirius yet), and I'm definitely getting the iPod interface.

you guys have no idea how bad that stuff is marked up. i used to work at best buy and got a great discount. 5% above what they pay. needless to say my system is worth over 1000 retail....i paid around 300 bucks for it with everything....and that includes 2 subs, amp, front and rear speakers, all the wiring and little end caps, sub box. all of it was namebrand stuff too. kenwood subs and amp, rockford front speakers and 4 gauge wiring, and pioneer rear speakers. deck i got at walmart before i worked there lol :o

o btw that is a nice deck tho

Hmmm....I have 2 Phoenix Gold Ti amps, MB Quart components, PG X-Max subs, PG 15x EQ, PG Ti 1-farad, Optima red top and I tested a few different decks including Alpine and nothing had the sound quality of the Eclipse.:D

I just think that dollar for dollar alpine makes a better deck.
