The Utility class is between FD Racing & PBR. FD Racing blew out the front diff and PBR helped us change it out. Right now PBR has a 6 min lead over FD Racing with about 2 hours left. It's great to see such great sportsmanship between competeing teams!!

John Natalie was unable to make it to team up with Chris Borich because he missed his flight, so Joe Borich an Rick Cecco teamed up with Chris for the pro class.

C&D Racing also made the trip from Nebraska with Colby, Chancy and Gary racing in the B class.

There was a total of nearly 50 entries. The track was almost completely saturated from an inch of rain that fell the night before. Several sections of the original track were removed and the track ended up about 5 miles long.

The race started at 11am with Chris Borich getting the holeshot. A few miles into the race Chris missed an arrow and headed back to the starting area. When he realized his mistake and turned around he was in nearly last place.

An unknown team on a white YFZ took the lead with JB Racing in second. Borich was able to work his team up to sixth within a few laps, but then his 450r began to sputter and he started dropping back again.

The racers became unrecognizable after only the first lap due to the mud covering them. Many machines were overheating and getting stuck back in the woods. Eventually, the sun came out and the winds picked up which helped dry out the track for the remainder of the race.

C&D racing won the B class and finished 4th overall, with their front and rear fenders breaking off from the weight of the mud.

More details to come later.....

Just for your info, it rained less than 1/4 in from the local radio station. But, it looked like 1 in from the way it stayed on the ground. After about the 1st hour the track got to be very good. Everyone that I talked to had a good time. The hot ticket was to have a power washer an wash the quad a few times duriong the race to clean the raditor. See you at one of the next 6 hr races.

A big THANKS to Colby and Dusty for the pressure washer. If it hadn't been for you Team EMU couldn't have done as good as we did. Also congrats on your First Place.

I thought the track looked great!!!! it got better as the day went on. there were a couple of spots that were a little bad but SHOULD have been no problem for the riders. Didn't really turn out that way.

I had a blast riding around pulling people out of the mud and back to their pits. Just wish I wouldn't have had to hook onto to so many people. It made my day fun but I have been on the other side before and know it sucks for those racers.

We could not have finished so well if it weren't for team EMU supplying the water, the plan was to drop the boys off and go back to town and fill the barrell, but their wasn't away to get out again without being pulled with the tractor..

BTW how long did it take for Goody to be pulled out after the race looked like he was buried to the axles :ermm:

Thanks again Team EMU and congrats on the finish

What a great bunch to pit by! Emu let us borrow their battery charger while we changed the bent bolts that tension the chain on the crappy YFZ swing arm. One of them even told us that we could rob parts from his bike and ship the new ones to him. When we overheated, C&D let us washout our radiator. We gave them all of the water we had left. Too late though. Cracked the head and had no compression, or coolant. At one point, they all even tried to push us back to the pits from the time chute. Only the team riders could push, but them trying to help, gave us that extra shove.
Thanks guys, and Dusty.

There were several riders wearing them. Looked like disposable painter's suits to me. They were pretty thin, looked like, so probably wasn't too hot. When I saw them I thought it was a great idea and wished we had some, and when I washed the pants and jerseys after we got home :eek2: , I REALLy wished we had used them!

Well, that photo was after riders had been on the course at least three or four laps, may have been more. Some of the riders weren't getting as muddy as the day went on and the bikes dried it out a little in spots. Guess it depended on where one hit the mud, how close they were to other riders and how much they got stuck. It could have been that rider's first lap and she/ he was lucky enough not to get too covered. I was in the pits, not riding, so I'm not sure, but I do know (I was cleaning their gear) that the mud on our riders was less each time they came in and the hours passed _ except for when they got stuck!
