I have got a 2001 400EX and I have a slight problem. My quad's chain fell off with out me noticing. However one of my buddies managed to stop me. I got off and looked at it, and noticed it was caught in between the swing arm and the front sprocket. The sprocket and chain both appear to be ok but the chain is lodged in there pretty good.. The fourwheeler wont move at all be cause of this. I know I'll probably have to remove the swingarm bolt on the left hand side, if there are any ways to work around this, could someone please let me know.

Thanks,
Ryan

It's wedged in there so tight that I can't get the sprocket off. I tried that the other day and it won't budge. Thanks though. If theres anything else, can someone let me know? Thanks.

why dont you try using a chain breaker and just pop that old chain off and put on a new one.

Look, My chain is caught between the swing arm guard and the front sprocket sooo tight that if I even try to move it, it's not going anywhere. I've tugged and tugged and she's for sure stuck.

I have had this happen to me before on my 450r. I got a very long punch and used a hammer, and came in from the other side of frame and pounded the hell out of it and it moved. I got it loose. If this don't work, just torch it, but be very careful!!!!!:eek2:

Fixed the problem today. Wow, lots of work on that simple problem. I had to get a sprocket puller, pull the front sprocket off, take the master link from the chain and place it back on. She's a screaming demon now :D.. Thanks guys.

This is where reverse comes in handy!

Reverse would've been super nice. Don't have the money to spend on it.. :P

reverse wouldnt have been the best idea, if you had it. i did that once when my chain got caught in my front sproket, on my z400, and ripped a huge whole in the crankcase. well i learned my lesson!!
