I was wondering what everybody thinks is the best shockwears out there, and why?

best????? shockwears serve only 1 purpose and thats to protect the shocks. Pretty much are all the same, there either the velcro or the zipper type (I'm not sure if they make them anymore). The only thing left is style or design!!! Which is up to you!

What do they protect the shock from. Just dust? Is it ok to go creek or mud riding with shock wears?

I don't know about other brands and stuff but I have a set of shockwears and I like the looks but hate that they took all the paint or whatever off my springs.

I love my shockwears. I got the noeprene type ones with the zippers. The only problem I have is that I ruined a zipper with a pressure washer!

I hate the Shockwears, I had them on and they just hold mud. They wrecked the paint on my springs and they almost wrecked my shock. I had red ones and they turned marroon in just a few rides or whenever they get wet. Plus the rear one is really hard to get on.

I think the rear one is hard to get on to, i have them and they fray and look weird after a while but they do protect my shocks some, i just make sure when i get back from riding i take them off so no moisture makes my shocks rust. I am looking for the neoprene ones because they protect against rocks hiting them better, and i like the zipper idea just because its almost a garuntee its not coming off during a race. Terri at marcumms atv has them without zippers and is geting me a set but if i can find them with zippers i might buy them instead. The only ones i have seen like that say p.e.p on them

You can get the neoprene(actually called "bonning" or something) style ones with zippers from Majic Racing or directly from Outerwears. They are WAY better than the nylon type!

I have Neoprene shockwears with velcro and I am very pleased with them so far. I purchased them from Big Cohoona. He is a user on this forum and makes them. You can bid on e-bay for them or contact him directly. I would highly recommend them. They look good also.

The big cahoona shock covers are the best that I have found. He can make them in different colors and clean up real easy, and dont strip the paint off the springs. They are also realy easy to put on, front and rear.

Outerwears offers 2 types of shockwears! 1- Denier Nylon which is very stron and durable and will provide more protection than other materials or 2- outerlex witch i think is like neopreme but not for sure but it is not anyways is a soft material which is not as tear of punture resistant as the denier nylon and is recommended for show quad or painted shocks. With either pair you can get a zipper or velcro. The zipper is NOT reccomennded for 0-preload shocks or shocks that sage because the shocks will pinch the zipper and rip it. The velcro is really strong and it does keep the shockwear on! You can also get bonning with shockwear. Bonning is a peice of material sewn on the inside of the shockwear to keep from sag type socks from pinching the shockwear and ripping it!! I have a pair of black denier nylon and I love them they have taken any paint off my shocks......yet. oo yea outerwears come with holes in the back of the cover so they can vint air and moisture! Outerwears come in all types of colors. Hope this answers any of your questions:blah

I think they are a worthwhile investment to have. If you are having trouble getting the rear one on like I did...wash it in the washer or soak it for an hour or so in Downey softner, it made it more plyable and seemed to stretch better over the shock, and when it dried out it was butt tight, and IMO looks great.

I have red Dirt-skins neoprene covers on my 300 and I love em.
They are the velcro type though.
I ordered direct from Dirtskins.

Oh yes it has seen plenty of that... I ride at John's Peak which is a woods area... and I ride at the dunes plenty... in fact this picture was just taking this morning, and that bike was flipped down the dunes twice last weekend...
I just take very very good care of my equipment and always go over it with a fine tooth comb... so if I ever sell this bike..whoever gets it will know for a fact that it has been taking care of..

Sorry, I can't get a better pic, I don't have a digital camera. Here is a picture from Marcum's Website. The writing on mine are different from this pic, but you can get an idea of how they fit.
