I want to know if this amp will last. The last one I bought only lasted like a month. It was a Soundstorm that came with the subs. I have 2 Audiobahn Subs that are 400w RMS 800 peak.

Definately not. When it comes to car audio, you get what you pay for. Get a respectable brand, even (although I don't normally recommend them) a rockford fosgate amp from best buy would be better than that.

I prefer Orion or JL amplifiers, but some may be out of your price range since the link you posted was $125. My avice is to save and wait...get a good one, you'll be happier in the long run.

Car audio is like anything else you buy..YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! I mean it says it is 1200 watts, but for $124 you can bet it probably doesnt even put out half of those watts..If you are going to buy an amp, but a good name brand that has a good rep, like fosgate, kicker, JL, you know brands like that..Dont waste your money on buying cheap stuff because you will continue to keep buying them and pretty soon you will have enough money into it all that you could have just bought 1 GOOD brand and been done with it..Hope this helps.

Instead of buying new, why don't you get on eBay and find a nice older amp? I like the old Fosgates and Alpines, and older Soundstream is really good, too. You will get a lot more for your money. As a rule of thumb, you'll usually pay about $1 per RMS (not peak) watt for a decent amp if you buy it new.

I only have 140 right now and i'd like to get my subs back in. Those amps are really expensive...

It's your choice, pay 140 regularly to replace *****ty amps, or just save and get one that will last you and work well.

What would be a normal price to pay for a decent amp then?

Like F-16 guy stated, about $1 per RMS.

I always buy crap from best buy, then get the warranty, stuff never lasts, I have had 3 amps and 3 different sets of subs in the past few years, i only paid for one :-)

I had this little amp hooked up to two JL 12's, and it hit pretty hard. This older Soundstream is better than 99% of the amps on the market today. It will run down to 1/2 ohm with no problem, and the sound quality is excellent. The funny thing is that it's rated at 25x2 RMS, unlike those cheap amps that claim 200,000 watts for $99. It doesn't sound like a lot of power, but it is when it's a competition class amp.

I'm with F-16 guy on the older amps, one of my buddies has an Alpine thats probably 14 years old (had it since he was 16) and it is still powering a pair of Memphis 15" woofers.

I love my Punch 500.2. I have it pushing a single Solobaric 10" L5. The birth certificate rated it's RMS at 532 and I got it new in the box from a local flea market for $250

"I just installed a Big Munny Hustla' 50,000 W 4.75 ohm amp into my Wrangler pushing my 4X6 dash Speakers and my 5.25 roll bar speakers..... I got it at the flea market for only $119, but it sounds bad... what's wrong?"

God, I hear this stuff WAY too often. Buy something decent, even if it means waiting for it. Check out this link if you're in a hurry:

Was $179.99, now $119.99. I'm with that other guy, I'm not real big on Fosgate, but it's better than what you posted up there. My .02

That amp is only at $51. If you could pick it up for $100, you'd have enough left for a Happy Meal.:D
