Alright at 5am Friday morning my riding group left for TX. And its 4pm now and they should be at the track now.

I was there for last years GNCC i was just curious how the practice track was this year? Last year it was ungodly rough when I rode it. It was my first GNCC and i didn't know what i was getting into!

I just put this post to to see if anyone was there and has wireless Internet and could report back about the track, and how people are doing?
thanks
markk

Well I was there untill about 5:30 this evening (I only live about 40 minutes from the track). Unfortunatly I can't tell you anything about the practice track I saw it from a distance but that was it. My son and some guys started walking the track and got about 1/4 of the way around before bailing on the idea. As they were walking back to the truck they talked to a guy who said it took him about 3 hours to walk the whole thing... I don't know if that was true or not.

So far the weather is looking good, but it is suposed to change for Saturday.

The funny thing is at tech they were only sound testing some of the quads, I guess it was a random thing. There were some pretty loud quads going thru untested. But it was fine by me.

Can't wait untill 1pm my son is going to try to run Open A, we race a local Texas series (www.atvccs.com) and thats the class he runs in it so we will see. When the GNCC is over we are loading up and heading for the 6 hour race. It is about 2 hours away in Greenville TX.

Man what a weekend.

Last years practice track was completely different than the actual course.

Billy Good grabbed the overall, and Traci Cecco won the Women's class!

Atvrider.com member Scott Kawi700 took 4th in Utility Unlimited!! Roy Lippencott won the Utility Unlimited Class.

I havent heard a peep from trackside, I know Harlen bent something in the front end and i'm not sure if that is preventing a call or not.

Ill post more when i get more

Last I heard was the two FD Racing riders were having a good day. Jason Mickelson just past Penland to take the lead in the Stock Utility class and Jarrod Sheets was leading the the Modified class right from the hole shot. Scott Kilby was in the pits and PraireWrench did not know if Scott was out of the race or not. Still waiting for the finally results. If anyone else get's them please post them right away. I'm not use to sitting at home and waiting to hear the news - it's driving me insane!!!

OK I just got a call and here are some Utility Class finishes:

In the Utility Stock Class: Jason Mickelson was leading when he got a rear flat tire with 10 miles left. He was then passed by an unknown rider and Mike Penland. Finall results:

1. Do not know name of rider yet.
2. Mike Penland - PBR Racing
3. Jason Mickelson - FD Racing
4. Andy Stricker - FD Racing

In the Modified Class:
1. Jerrod Sheets - FD Racing
2. Jim Stack

I'll post additional infomation as I get it. I guess it's time for us (FD Racing) to buy some Tire Balls!!!!

its nice to see someone give ballance a run for his money. I really like bill, but since 93 Barry Hawk and Bill Ballance have won the title- we'll see how this year turns out, should be some good competition.

Same thing is happening over in GNC- the underdog (Farr) pulled the surprise win over the favorites (Gust and Jones).

Looks like its gonna be a great year in both series!

Today wasn't a good day for the northern Missouri boys. Duane called back to let me know the results. Duane cracked a case, Michael broke a tie rod, Troy wrecked and hurt his arm or something like that, and I am thinking Zach didn't finish either with some sort of mechanical problems. He said it was very rough on everybody and the quads, but they are looking forward to the 6 hour race on Sunday. Good luck to anybody that will be racing the 6 hour race on Sunday.

I agree the practice track last year was HORBILE! But the updates that i received threwout the day while i was worked sounded like this..

300racer (mike coker c-16-21) slashed a rear tire on the Practice track, barrowed some ITPs and went out running in 2nd place outa the holeshot and steady running in 4th untill he hit SOMTHING and he had a right front flat, and bent tie rod, Made it back to the pits, changed a tire, and rebent the tie-rod. On the 3rd lap he hit somthing else and bent the same tie-rod and he only finsihed 4 laps in 7th place. Tough luck Mikey,

BigBadBeny Benji Edwards (sport) Grabed the holeshot but swung the turn wide and by the next turn a Warrior caught up to his almost stock 300ex. He ran in 2nd place for the first lap, and BRADLY300 Who was running in 1st seemed to have had problems, And Beny made it up into first after that. And made out with his 1st First place finish in a GNCC (way to go beny, its that PIPE LOL HMF)

Brain Edwards 250r didnt start on the first kick, and was dead last going into the woods. By then end of his first lap he made it up to 4th place, His second lap he had a flat tire, and came in to change that. still running in 4th on his way outa the pits. 3rd lap his throttle was sticking open, So he came in the pit and made some adjustments! (IDK) and got some fuel and was still in 4th on his way out. And he finished the race out in 3rd place. Way to go man. R u ready for FL??

Patte 440 Kevin Patterson (open-b) Grabed a 2nd place outa the holeshot To start his day out, But the knarly track took his toll on that 450r yesterday. By the end of the first lap he was running in 7th place about 1 and 1/2 min outa first. And lost 7th place to David Robinson (Dave R u a member yet?). whitch moved him into 8 and fishiing the 2nd lap he was only 13sec outa 7th, But during the 3rd lap the grosoom course took its toll in his tires and tie-rods. Finished 11th Good Job Man STick with it.

Don Wessling (super Senior) ONly his 3rd time out on his new Yamaha! Way to break her/and YOU in right DON!! I didnt hear much about him threwout the day, But sounds like u did really well, Ran that Black yami all the way into 5th threwout the intire race. Looks like your times where pretty close. Good Job man!!
GET ANY ARM PUMP with that REAL POWER!!!!!!

yeah, he just wouldnt get out of my way so i gave 'er all she had and blew her up. lol actually it was low in compression (it has the original rings from when i bought it this time last year) so i knew i was on borrowed time. o well, its already in cleveland at snyder motorsports getting a new piston, rings, some head mods, porting and a bigger carb so i'll be ready for florida

Bummer on your engine Brad, sounds like you could have taken first. You need to work out those mechanical gremlins before you get to the track.

I hope Benji races more races this year.

Can't wait till Steele Creek. I'm sending my rear shock out to Laz this week and should have the quad together in about 2 - 3 weeks. Hoping to get 1 or 2 races in on it before Steele Creek.

Me and Al (ajr400ex) might run a team race in Ohio this weekend on his 450R. Time to practice plus get me some seat time on a decked out 450R.

bradley300

if the first race is anything indication of the rest of the season, were gonna have some fun, close racing in the sport class this time around.

i hear ya on the mecanical gremlins, but i knew i was on borrowed time with it. figured even if i blew it up that there would be so few in our class that i could still get a good finish to help out in the points, so really it worked out good, it was just working out better win i was winning, lol. better get that 300 ready cuz the blasty's comin back faster than ever:devil:

i hope benji races more too, he seems to be good even competition, he got ahead of me at the start and lost me when the guy in front of me got caught on a hill, i didnt think i was gonna catch him, but then i found him hung up on a hillside.
