I'm strongly considering buying either a 350 kit or a 330 kit hopefully in the spring time. First off, is it worth it, will i notice i big change in power? and also, where is the cheapest place i can get one from? any suggestions? thanks

in my opinion four stroke tech has the best big bores the 330 kit from them costs about $800 but if you buy just the sleeve and piston from them its only like $400 and then you can just go out and buy a web cam for i believe $120-$150 (i would say get the stage 3 cam) i dont know about the price for the 350 kit but i shouldnt be a whole lot mot than the 330 kit if you do get the big bore make sure you get the engine ported and polished so i will get the right amount of air flow if you dont have a pipe for your 300ex yet i would say get either a curtis sparks x4 or the x6 pipe also a yoshi pipe would be great for these big bores also the power you get is worth every penny you will spend for the big bore

would i be able to keep up with 400's?

yes you would beat stock 400exs with the 330 kit with the 350 kit you might be able to beat a 416ex and if you also got an edelbrock carb you get and extra 6hp i believe and from what i hear if you gear the quad right with the 330 kit you will keep up with a stock z400 300exs might be considered beginner quads but you can pimp them out to be great competitors with the big boys and you will love the power you get from either of these big bores:muscle:

well im not sure how much a curtis sparks exhaust costs but i think its like $400 for a full system then $400 for the 330 piston and sleeve then another $130-$150 for the stage 3 web cam $400 for the edelbrock carb you might want to get a racing clutch and some heavy duty valve springs i dont know what the clutch and valve springs cost unless you want the whole kit from four stroke tech which comes with all that stuff but it costs $800 i think it cost my friend who got the 330 kit from four stroke tech then bought the other stuff sepratly and it cost him about $600 for all that stuff but he didnt buy the edelbrock carb and he can still beat 400exs just remember to get your quad ported and polished when you get all this stuff done

I am his ^^^ friend with the 330. I would definetly say go for the 330 with edelbrock carb and curtis sparks x-4 or x-6 pipe. I would say that if you have the money, porting is worth it. I ported mine myself, but it is very hard to do. I also didn't take off that much metal when I ported it, maybe at the most, a 1/16 of an inch. It definetly is fast if you gear it right, and you will definetly blow away a stock 400ex and prolly beat a stock z400 with the carb on it too. I need to get me the sparks pipe and the carb on mine. But I may just cheap out and get a 400ex carb, but I hear they are very herd to jet right.

i agree with the last 2 posts, built and geared right the big bore 300's are definitely underdogs.

i run a 39 fcr on my 380, works great.

If your lookin to race get a .080 11:1 piston, stage 3 web cam, hardened rockers, h/d valve springs, 400ex carb, port & poilsh, 3 angle valve job, pipe of your choice, and a filter of your choice. Your should be running around 28-30 HP. Easily taking stock 400s. Also this way if you ever want to run a national you wont have to buy a whole new top end (can't run over 300cc's). This will cost you about 700-800 dollars. I also reccomend you buy from C&D racing or www.magicracing.com

Lil_300Ex_Kid has a good point if you are going to race nationals and looking to save some $$. But if you are dead set on going big bore powroll is worth looking into. While you will save money on the .080 over motor it will not run with the 330's or 350's. My friend has an .080 over cam, rockers ect.. and yes it runs good, but its not overly impressive.
