My 300ex got a new topend and like the 4th time i rode it it pulled the cylinder sleeve down into the engine. what do u think would cause that to happen.

Was it just resleeved? It sounds like they machined the counterbore down to far allowing the sleeve to slide down the bore.

It broke the sleeve up on top where the flange is and when it heated up it pulled the sleeve down. the mechanic said the has never seen it happen before. so i'm out 800 dollars

You got stiffed man. There is no way you should of spent 800 to fix your engine. I've seen low hour running 300ex engines go for around 550 on Ebay. Did you fix it back to stock or do some mods at the same time?

i have never seen that,i have seen sleeves not lined up correctly with the ports on two strokes but never with your case, sounds like whoever pressed it in was a butcher, some stuff even i leave to the pros, good luck

haha, mine did the same thing after only havin about 10 hours on the quad after a rebuild, i had just had the head work done, cam, rockers, valve springs, new valves, .020 wiseco, and a .020 bore... i was riding then just hear a big clunk like and my wheels locked up, got it home and my sleeve had went down into he motor, that top lip had busted off and it just went down

i just bought a big bore kit after that, resleeved the cylinder and i havent had a problem yet besides regular rebuilds.. goin thru a massive rebuild now

i put a high compression piston, mild web cam, port and polish, same *%$!ing thing. the sleeve flange broke off sending the sleeve smashing onto the crank. 3 tanks of gas and ting!!!! everybody says too hot - oil cooler.

total rebuild - all lower end bearings and new rod.

now i have 330 fst kit with the same mods and oil cooler. boy do i love it, but now it just fried the stock clutch. i never ends.

Ya i think i over heated it. Sandy terrain and i had 18 in fast trekkers. oil coolers are expensive

I bet that oil cooler is cheaper than what you are about to fix.;)

i think i got it for a note. not bad. ive heard of guys finding same radiator at auto store and using them. you just cut the oil pick-up line and put the cooler inline. any small radiator will work. can be done for 20-30 bucks.
