Is the stock timing chain for the 400ex a known weakness and require replacement with an aftermarket???

Depending on your engine mods you might want to go with a CRF450R timing chain...It's the heavy duty version of the TRX400EX timing chain.

yeah get the CRF450 one. NOT TRX450R

it's the same lenght and works with the stock sprokets.

And it's like half the price
