i was leaving work today, got in the truck, turned the key, and the lock cylinder just spun. it went all the way forward very loosely. when the key is turned all the way forward, the ignition comes on. it will not engage the starter. does anyone know what is causing this? i have a haynes manual, which says that there is a rod that connects the cylinder to the ignition relay, which is located in the steering column. im thinking that the rod may have come off of the cylinder, which would let it spin without engaging the starter. does anyone know of any possible fixes before i rip out the darned steering wheel to get to the stupid thing?
