I've heard of a few reported cases of the compression adjuster on the Elka piggyback front shocks hitting the front fenders? Has anyone experienced this? Does it cause the compression knobs to skip adjustment or anything? Any help would be appreciated.

On my brothers 450r his Elka knobs do hit the fenders. He trimed the fenders a little because the fenders where actully wearing away at the compression knobs.

yes you need to trim your plastic a little for the knobs. they will start to wear in on the knobs. Andy Lagzdins shows some great pics on how he trimmed his in his XC 450r build up. check it out.

Yeah i was looking at that, that is a good write-up he has. Well it's sort of a bummer that they hit, i think im just going to remove my front fenders altogether, i dont' see them blocking that much mud anyways.

Is this with standard travel, long travel, or standard with +" a-arms?

In muddy races or riding the fenders WILL flap up and down and TURN the knobs, if not trimmed. Cut away plenty of clearance, look at Andy Lagzdins post great pic.

If you have the Elites, they hit even more.

you have to trim the fenders for them to clear, i had to do it on my bike also, jus get a dremel and mark off the area u need to cut, then after u finish push down hard on the fender and see if it will still rub, if it does take off a little more until it doesnt hit at all :macho

yah u do have to cut the fenders for the 450. Just like everyone has said, it is no big deal. u can do it in under a half an hour. but it is well worth it when u get all the suspension improvement
