400EX reverse

Need some help. Do you think it is work $900 to get an 05 with reverse? I can still get an 04 for $900 cheaper. I am used to reverse on my 300ex though. But I think that the $900 can be spent on my HMF slip-on, jets, air filter, skids, etc. With the $900 I'd save, I could make my 400EX VERY trail ready!

I went with the 04, I talked the guy down to 4600 brand new and made him throw in a helmet. I spent the rest of the money on exactly what you are wanting. HMF, jet kit and uni filters. They want to get rid of the 04's so they will make great deals. Reverse would have been nice but I have not needed it that bad yet.

i just bought an 05 400ex reverse is great,when your use to a quad with reverse, its hard to get use to one with out.i paid 5150.00 for mine.

i used to have a 300 but am now used to the no reverse on my 400. the only place i would like to have it is when i am stuck in the mud or snow, other than that, i dont need it.

i had that choice and went 04, never really have a need for it. usaly if im stuck going forward, im stuck going backwards anyways.

Purchased a 05 fo 4799.00 brand new..procycleusa.com in
columbia mo...I get tired just watching people without reverse..
once you have it, it's hard to do without..

i agree, 05 400 ex w/ rev, i would have gotten the 450 if it had rev, ive heard rumors of 450xc, could care less about the electric start. the 1st manufacturer to put rev on a 450 is gonna have a financial hayday. do i put $$$$ into my 400 or wait and grab a 450 and trick it out. anyone else heard anything on the 2006 450?

Personally I am glad I got the 2004 model rather than a 2005. The 05's weigh 13 pounds more, and of course look different and like your saying, have reverse. I don't plan on racing with reverse so I don't need it, and the 400ex is light enough to lift the back end and roll it out of a mud hole if I get stuck. But if your used to having reverse then go with the 05, but IMO, the 04 is better.:D
