i noticed that eddlebrock makes 2 quick silver carbs one for a stock bore 400ex and one made specificially for the 440

i have one on my 440ex setup and i was wondering how you can tell the difference between the 2, i know they are different part numbers but does anyone know how to tell by looking at the carb itself?

for example i was checking out this ebay auction:
eddlebrock quicksilver carb (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2473737063&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT)

and in the first or second setence it says for the 440ex kit ad $50... what exactly is this kit.. is it just different jetting or something more?

the quad i purchased was done up right and i am pretty confident that the guy used the right carb but i would like to check and be sure..

you can tell the difference between them by the 440 version has red peices on it and it should say somthing like eichner or a name like that i forget how its spelled but it a guys name who used it in races. the 440 version has a different jeting and it might be bigger but i doubt it hope this helps you

The 400cc carb has an oval bore 34x38mm and comes with 13e 15e 17e needle.The 440cc is 38mm round bore comes with 21e 23e 25e needles.

thanks for that info ... is there any way to tell by looking at the carb itself and not removing the needles?

possibly a different part number or something?

if scooter is right about the bore of the carb which i think he is take the carb off the bike and look into the bore of the carb if its a circle its a 440 version if its an oval its a regular version

there is no way to tell from the outside. The difference between the two is bore as mentioned up above and the 440 has a better, fasteraccelator pump on it. The eichner series is the same as the 440 except the anadized ends on the outside. Many carbs that are silver are the standard version, the good news is you send them to edelbrock and they'll turn it into the 440/eichner version for like $50. They bore it out, clean everything up (make it look new inside and out), and put thee 440 accelator pump on it. Well worth the money if you have the standard carb and a heavily built quad. I've heard it does worse than good if you try to put it on a bike that isn't built up. I'd say minimum a fully built 425ex for the 440 carb.
