I'm thinking about getting that JE superlight 12:1 piston with my 440 rebuild. I'm deffinately going with the HD Carillo rod. Are any of you guys still blowing head gaskets with the HD studsand 12:1 ? I'm just thinking it's not worth the extra compression if gaskets are still blowing. Mine ran great for over 2 years on 11:1 and stock rod, head studs, until the clutch basket give up on me. I guess I'm leaning a little more towards reliability vs. power! Any help will be appreciated! THANKS!

i am not messing with mine until they give me problems. i have talked to an individual who runs 13:1 on stock studs. others have problems with 11:1.

I had problems with my stockers at 10.6:1. But I think it had more to do with the three head cover bolts on the right side that extend into the jug...I am in the process of going with the FDO studs as we speak.

If you're looking for more reliability then I would definitely get them. I was going to get them on my 400ex before I decided to sell it.
