What's the best tire for traction that comes in the 18" MX size? I am having some major traction issues with the 20" Razor's I am running now and I know when I go to 18's it's going to get even worse unless I find a better tire. When I say traction issues what I mean is when I get into the straights on fairly hard packed dirt every time I shift the back end wants to walk back and forth from spinning and if it's something soft then it walks the whole time I am gassing on it even pinned in 5th. Also would stiffening my rear shock help this any or is it strictly the tires? Thanks

Holeshot MXR4 hook up the best hands down, but they also wear really really fast! Thats pretty amazing that your having traction issues even in 5th gear:eek2: Are your current tires worn down so they look like slicks or what? Kenda Klaws hook up pretty good too and they wear much better than holeshots. I've also heard good things about the knarly MX's. But those too are supposed to wear fast. It just depends on how often you want to be buying tires.

I use to run hole shots and razzr mx. But i recently bought some kenda klaw mxfs and mxrs best 18 inch mx tire ive ever used plus if the track is loomy u can switch the rears side for better traction.

I like the look of the MXR4 but I don't want to be buying tires 2 or 3 times a year. As long as they'll last me a season then I am good with that. Actually the Razor's are still 3/4 tread not much wear on them at all I just took them off the 250 and put them on the 400 since they had more tread than the others. I am seriously looking at the Klaws though and all I hear are good things about them. Plus I like being able to swap them around for the really loose stuff. Hmmm

Yes they are good for very hard packed but if the track gets a little sloppy they suck.

yeah grooved tamers hook up awesome until it gets a little sloppy. If your looking for a good mx tire that will last you all season then Definitely get the klaws.

I've had a set of MXR4's on my stock rims and a set on my Hipers, I use the stock rims to practice with and I go riding just about every weekend and they have been holding up strong for me riding all kinds of MX tracks for over a season and a half now on my YFZ.

I have ran turfs forever, but I switched to holeshots mx4 and I didn't like them at first, but now I will never run turfs again unless the track is completely dry and hard packed, turfs suck ungrooved, but they are better grooved. I hear Kenda Klaws are awesome, I love my holeshots all the way around.

Go with the mxr4 holeshots. The kendas have too much tire roll (weak side walls) "a quote from a pro that was sponsored by kenda" but they do hook up well and is nice to switch them around for track conditions. The turfs are great grooved and for hard pack but like what everybody else says they are terrible when sloppy. just my 2 cents times 3.

kenda gnarly 18 mxr and they last awhile too. I have them on my crf450r quad. they grab in mud, sand, hardpack.

I love the MXR4's. I didn't really think that the old MXRs wore all that fast. You can get a season out of a set of MXR4s no problem. I remember when turfs were all there was and you'd have to buy at least two sets a season and spend long hours in the garage or at the track cutting knobs off!

Im gonna agree with everyone on the Turf Tamers. Although they are nice tires, if you run a soft dirt track forget about it. The setup I am currently running are Holeshot MXR4 on Hiper Rims(rear)/Razr on ITP Beadlocks (front). I just ran this setup for the first time yesterday at a race, and I absolutely fell in love with the grip through the corners. Soft loose dirt, and during practice I found my self almost turning to much through the turns.

Hope this helps.
