Hey guys i dont do any racing.. I was thinking about getting into a little next year but not sure yet.. I would love to have a yfz450 tho.. I do alot of kinda tight trail riding.. How does this quad hold up on the trails and is it to much power for trail riding?? Any feedback would be great thanks!!

I use my yfz for trail riding only, handles them with ease. Comon to much power for trail riding? is that possible for a atv. I saw a r6 powered raptor chassis that a guy used for the trails, said it handled good too.

haha yeah i know guess it couldnt be to much power.. My friend has a kfx400 which he loves but says sometimes would rather have his old 300ex for the woods/trails.. He says the 400 can be a little twitchy sometimes..

I think that in stock form, the kfx is a way better trail machine. It has better torque curve, is more comfortable, and easier to ride. I know I have both of them.

Yes for trail riding, theres no better bike than a z400. I have both and a 500ex and Ill take a modded z any day due the comfort, reverse, good handling, watercooling, and overall good usable power. You can also find them used a lot cheaper.

THE yfz can be a little to powerful for the trails sometimes. It revs so quick the power will beat you up a little more than say a honda or suzuki.

SO it sounds like its got the kinda power where riding in the trails you should constantly be on the clutch? Kinda always feathering it almost..

Depends on what kind of trails you ride on. I have been trail ridding on a YFZ for a year. It is great. It is snappy as far as the power goes but if you need to stand it up in 3rd for a mud hole or log it is no problem. It is also great for hill climbing. If you do decide to race you will already have the bike to do it.

hmmm tough decision.. I went to my dealer today there gonna give me 2600 trade in on a 400ex towards a yfz450.. there price on a 450 is 6800 and change.. What do you tihnk of that price? So i gotta come up with an extra 4800 to cover the rest of it.. Is this a decent price?

I have a modded 01 400ex, 04 raptor, and a o4 yfz 450 and 400ex is smooth through the woods but a tank. The raptor is twitchy and likes to hit trees lol (head on) and has tons of power but too unpredictable. The yfz 450 runs like a raped ape and handles like a dream. Go with the yfz for sure

jiggaman2401- I HAVE RIDDEN JUST ABOUT EVERY SPORT ATV MADE AND I WILL TELL YOU THAT A BONE STOCK YFZ IS A LITTLE TO HARSH FOR TIGHT TRAIL ONLY RIDING. IF YOU DON;T AGREE COME RIDE WITH ME FOR 4 HOURS AND CALL ME THE NEXT DAY AND TELL ME HOW YOU FEEL. THE YFZ IS VERY STIFF STOCK AND IF I WAS BUYING A TRAIL ONLY ATV IT WOULD BE A Z400 OR A 400EX.
