will a 16 tooth sprocket fit with a case guard on a 400ex?
If so which brand. I have an aluminum case guard now.
I want higher gearing because first is too low.
appreciate any help...

It will fit depending on the brand of your case guard. Mine is a SRP from magicracing.com (http://www.magicracing.com) and it fits fine. Duncan racing also has one. If a 16 won't fit, you can get a smaller back sprocket. A 36t rear is close to the same ratio as a 16 in the front. The 16 is a bit taller ratio though. I think the smaller the front sprocket is, the faster it will turn up, so I always mess with rear sprockets. I currently run a 14-34 combo. Hope this helps ya!;)

Smaller front = less speed, more acceleration

Smaller rear = more speed, less acceleration and vice versa.
