I've been wondering if you were to polish steel, what could you do to keep it from rusting. I was thinking maybe clear spray paint, or some sort of polish sealer like that stuff they advertise on spike tv sometimes. Would a clear powdercoat take away the shine? Is this even resonable to attempt?

You could do it..I mean hell..you wouldn't need to even seal it...just polish it everyday..or at the most twice a day..depending on what you ride in..ect..but..Nobodys going to do that...hah...well clear coats will dull the finish..and wear away after time..which leaves you screwed lol...I don't know about the sealers..but I know you have to upkeep them..your best bet is getting it chromed...only thing that really lasts.

How much stronger is a powdercoat then a regular chrome job? I'm mainly looking for something somewhat shiny for some stock a-arms and swinger on my quad.

Well..if you have a 400ex..or other newer quads..I think most have aluminum swinger...so you can polish that....I'm doing my 400's top a-arms in chrome spray paint and clear coating it..because I'm cheap..and I don't care if it looks that great..cuz even a shiney silver will look good...so yeah lol

The chrome spray paint that I have was junk. It NEVER drys, I mean litterally a week inside under the fan, and it still leaves finger prints in the paint after that. And when you clear coat it, it turns silver, like darker than a stock frame color. Alsa corp has a real chrome paint, with a clear that works with it, you just need a compressor and spray gun. I've seen pics and it looks 95% like real chrome.
