the crf 450 cam chain is supposed to work with the 400ex but i beleive i heard it has a little more slack then the stock chain. you might want to try looking for a profab heavy duty cam chain someone said they don t make them anymore but you could probably find one some ware on the internet go to the reveiw section and look at the review on the profab chain and email the company and find out for sure if they are discontinued

I really didn't notice any difference in slack, although my stocker was probably stretched some. The pitch is different on the chains, but it will still work, I have one on mine as well.

Are they noticably alot stronger looking?..I'm just not wanting to pay 50 bucks for a stock 400 one when I can get the crf one and its HD for like..30 bucks if that

the crf ones look a bit beefier. they are one link wider than the stock ones, so yes it has to be stronger.
