Project 400ex Is Underway!

Woo...Me And My Brothers 2002 400ex Is now NAKED! ahhh :huh heh..Shes getting a complete rebuild...These are all the parts shes getting!

MOTOR:
416 Bore
JE10.8-1 Piston
Hotcams Stage 1
CRF Cam Chain
New rockers
Port and polished head
Now that I've seen The TRX450r carb on a 400ex..I Might go with that too?..I don't know though...
And I believe thats it for the motor.

Frame..And bottom a-arms..This really awsome blue color!
Top a-arms Chrome
Swinger Polished
Oil tank Polished
Motor mounts are polished front..black back
Polished Cases
Black Hubs
Polished Pipe
More polished parts ect.
Possibly Shock covers..not sure yet.
Removed graphics.

Suspension
450r Front shocks
Possible a 450r rear..or Rebuild on the rear..or none..not sure.


Might get some more ideas...Post any that you have...
:D It has brand new Kenda Klaws on front..and Those Knarlys are brand new..they just look wierd in the pic..and I also have a set of 18 inch tamers I think I'm going to keep to put on it sometimes.

Yp nice job so far. How much did all that
paint/powedercoating/chrome cost you? Also, you should get an aluminum air box too...it would go good w/ the chrome back end. You can get them for like $100 on ebay.

I was thinking about an aluminum airbox..but Its somewhat of an XC quad...and those boxes with lids are like 200 bucks...no thanks hah...It cost me maybe...30 bucks or less to do it all. :)

If you do all the right pep work and such for painting it will hold up very well....Its not easy to do..but it makes a huge difference.

Looks sweet! Did you polish the subframe or what? It looks really cool with the frame painted, and the subframe shiny like that. Can't wait to get going on my own 400 buildup! Got no money, so it'll be a long time, but hey, maybe mid summer!

you rattle canned the frame??? o man, i bet it's rustoleum metallic blue then. looks great until you spill some gas on it, or ding it up. i prepped my frame on my 200x perfectly and applied numerous coats of primer, paint, and clear. u just wasted alot of time because in a months time it's going to look like garbage no matter how much you prepped it.:o :o :o

My old mx 300 frame was rattle canned..it holds up good..and no its not rustoleum paint..It holds up good..thanks for the comments so far guys! :devil:

what kind of paint do you use? and what are you doing for prep?

The paint I used is Dupli Color Trans Blue, And for prep..Frame was cleaned...rubbed down good with some 50-100 grit paper wirewheeled and blown off with a compressor, Then primed sanded again..another coat of primer..then painted with 5 thick coats and 3 thick clear coats. :devil:
