400 ex reverse

Does anyone know of a reverse conversion for older 400ex, so they will have reverse like the new ones

I have never seen a 400ex with reverse. It would be cool, though.

I would think that the lower end of the engine would be a bit different with the additional gears. I don't think there would be a kit unless you changed all the gearing. But then again maybe you can!!!!

ive just heard this, never done it.. but i hear that there IS a space in there for a reverse gear, altho the cases are not big enough to house that gear.. a xr400 case will make it work with reverse, but think about how much you use reverse and how much time and money that would be to do it.

no it can not be done. the cases are completely diffrent in the 99-04 and 05. The only way it can be done is with the 05 cases.

My bad. I just went to the local dealer and saw that the 05 does have a reverse and a 450r style light. COOL!!!!!!!!

buy a new 400 engine and sell the old one on ebay to make up the difference.
