Hipers are going to cost more to start with but you will only ever buy them once because you will not have to worry about bending them. I will never get another alum set, I have hipers on the front of my 440 Ex, all four on my 450R, and I am getting all four for the 90 Mod that i am getting done, 170 each for fronts and 190 each for rears with the integral hub

but dont the Hypers make it narrower in the rear due to the integrated hub on 8x8 wheels? that is what i heard about the hypers. i just wanted to know if that was true and if so why not to to the 9x8 hyper that does not come with the hub?
so if anyone else knows anything about this let me know

I haven't weighed them, but I've been told they're heavier than the aluminum counterpart. Dunno for sure tho.

i weighed mine. they are lighter. i found the rear to be a 1 pound lighter and the front i am not sure how much but i know its was lighter too.
so YES they are lighter than alum. oh you have to weigh the hub to when measuring them.

I found a great place to buy Hipers. There is a place called Magnolia Tractor/Yamaha in Arkansas. I bought a set of 4 Hipers during a January sale that they had.. All 4 for $600.00 plus 40.00 shipping. That was in January. His regular price is $660.00 plus shipping. The guys name is Bob. I 'll have to get the number tomorrow. They were drop shipped to my house from Hiper. Got them in just under a week. You can do a Yahoo search if you wish.

I bought mine from C&D and they gave me a good deal. Sure once a year some other guy might offer them a little cheaper, but he isnt helping this site any. I think you can get the full set from C&D for 660-670 at least thats what I paid a little over a year ago. As for hipers themselves I would highly recommend them, they look great and are built great. If you do manage to break one somehow you can buy parts for them. And they arent all that much more than other beadlocks. If you buy top of the line douglas I actually think they cost more.

what is the down fall of the 9 inch wheel besides the 8 inch with the integrated hub? i have a set of 8 inch with the integrated hubs and i am thinking about getting some 9 inch without the hub so i can get my full 50 inches wide. i just want to know what the down fall of a 9 inch wheel would be.

9" have will be a bit rougher because there is less tire to help soak up the bumps. At the same time the 9" will be more stable in the turns, however you may not notice either one of these. I have alwaysed used 8" so I can't really compare.

9" in non beadloocks blow off the rim easier and even easier in 10s 9" beadlocks would have to be built tougher like ^ sid they have less tire to soak up bumps and everything they may just be offering them in different sizes so people who want to keep their hubs can of if you have ne of the dureblue axles with the clamp on hubs you can still run hiper rears just a thought :p

another way to look at it...

I had Douglas beadlocks front and rear on my Banshee. They were a pain to keep clean. Mud would stick inside the ring where the large space was. When you washed them, they'd have a lot of water sitting in the bottom of the ring and would take a lot of cleaning.

The Hipers on my 450r are extremely easy to clean. They don't hold water and mud and do NOT require polishing. :D They always look good. If mud did get in there, it didn't stick inside the ring like the Douglas's did and were very easy to clean up.

I don't think I'll ever own another set of aluminum beadlocks.

i do agree about the cleaning and polishing part. i hated to polish my old alum wheels. about the mudding getting in the ring, all i would do was put the pressure washer nozzle on the ring and spray it out really good. they did old water after washing the 4 wheeler and if you did not try them out they would leave a water spot. i do like my hypers so far but i have not had much time to ride them.

hey dn1911,
did you use carter keys for the axle? i noticed you have the integrated hub,and i am having trouble with keeping my axle nuts tight, do you have any suggestions for me?

and for the weight difference, i bet those HD weigh more than those stock tires you had on those black wheels and plust the back was not even a beadlock. i had a set of douglas red label beadlock and the hypers weigh just a pound less with the same tire on there (itp mxr4). well i do like your setup wiht the bill balance pipe.
