back brake problem

I took my 2003 400ex out the other day and when I hit the back brake it sticks. It won't return up from the down position unless I pull it up with my foot. The return spring is still on there what else is wrong????

Is the lever stiff to move by your foot?

Sounds like you may have a failed seal inside the master cylinder and it needs to be rebuilt. Are you running DOT4 fluids? DOT3 fluids break down much faster and may cause this.

yea either your master cylinder is shot, which i dont think it could be cuz the spring would still return it or where the brake pedle slides into the frame, slide it out and get rid of all the rust in there and clean the slide part of the pedal with steel wool and then put it back together with lots of grease, that should fix the problem
