I can sell you this wonderful metal piece that will completely regear your machine and allow you to reach 80 mph. PM me for details, it costs about $150 though but is far less expensive than extensive motor work.

You should have just gotten a 450R. What's the big deal with 80mph?

Na.i dont wanna get the trx450r cuz i really dont race and stuff,i mostly just stunt on it anf trail ride and jump and the 400ex is that solution and the big deal with 80 is cuz thats what most of the bikes i ride with or ride around me DO so i wann be able to have mostly the same speed has them

If you gear that thing for 80, don't plan on riding any trails. Unless you want to be doing about 15 mph in first. Bad idea in my opinion. Probably wear the clutch out prematurely gearing it that high and trying to take off in first. If you want to go that fast, buy a bike like your friends or just don't drive so damn fast.

The 450 has superior shocks, engine and by the time you spend 500 bucks for a bore job the price would have been similar to a 450R. Just wondered.

just get your 400 to look like mine...and its gonna cost you about 2,000 in motor work

Dont regear it if it doesnt have any engine work. I have to be all over the clutch on mine and it will barely spin. When you do donuts it SUCKS!

i had my 400ex gear 16/36 with 22s and it was pretty fast dont know the acual top speed but i would prabably say close to 80 maby a lil slower but it is defenatly not good gearing in the woods i did it cuz i ride on long flat staight aways all the time it takes it awhile to get up to speed too you wont be able to pull the front end up in 3rd any more either, hope this helps

Spend the extra money and get a higher end quad. Like everyone else said, you're going to spend more money trying to make it faster than it would be to just get either the Yami or Honda 450. Even if you do get it as fast as either of the 450s, you still have to spend another $700-$1,000 to get the suspension to be just as good.

for once i actually agree with him not gettin a 450r,if he don't plan on gettin into racing then don't get it,trail ridin and jumpin is ok for a 400 with shocks and more stuff,i wouldn't worry bout goin 80 tho ,nothin much to brag bout, theres always someone else thats faster and what not,but i agree with not gettin a 450r b/c the maintance, i love mine but u gotta do something bout every ride, but i love it and it's what i chose to do,thats teh biggest decision of all ,if u will race or not

yep,it's true...im not going to be racing, but if i were racing i would of got a 450r or yfz450 but since im not i want to the 400ex cuz i do trail ride alot and ride on the streets with friends and some jumping and alot of stunting(hey it rymes..lol)but anyway maybe 80's not such a good idea but i would like to hit it and i can take care of what i like about the apperence of the bike whats a good exhaust cuz thats the 1st big modd..I was thinking more the line of BIG GUN full system racing exhaust but thats me.I deff want something thats gonna be giving the best power and performance and LOUD is always good like iceing on a cake.

Thanks. LTR

yea,if you like to trail ride you dont want a 450r unless you want to put a chunk of money in it,i just bought one 3 wks ago it had such a high gear that it was almost impossible to ride in the woods,it sucks.i kept it for a week and then traded it in on an 05 400ex NICE CHOICE,before i left the lot we raced the 450r won of corse but my 400 had it all the way threw 3rd gear, thats what im talking about:devil:

most quads don't run 80. the 400 would be lucky to make 70 stock. the 450R tops at low 70's stock.

oh and if you are riding on the street, a loud pipe will jsut make the cops show up faster.

for the dude that doesnt like the 450 in the woods
i say you didnt have enough seat time on it to appreciate its full potential
1st off get a full system like sparks or hmf and you'll have plenty of low end balz
2nd i had the same trouble at first but once you get used to it you wouldnt go back to the 400
i have both 450r and a 400ex well i have a z400 too but i really like the 450 for the woods it just took me a little while to get used to it

on the 450r, pipe or not you will not be able to putt around in 1st gear in the woods on tight trails unless you change the gearing.i traded in my yfz 450 after having it a year for the same thing and it had a graden full system on it.so it has nothing to do with my seat time, just certain bikes are made for certain things.

lemmie give you some tips, from somone who lives extreamly close to you..

1. riding in the street.. STUPID.. that is unless you would LIKE to get your bike taken by the heat..

2. you aint gonna do 80 on any trail.. not around here at least.. you are not even going to hit a jump at 80.. if you do, then you need to check your brain bro..

3. the 400 is a nice bike for around here.. handles quite nice..

4. where exactly do you plan on trail riding? and are you ready to take the risk of getting chased by the heat? No trails in md are you allowed to legally ride unless it is privately owned.. (i still ride them anyways)

5.. answer your damn pm sir.
