L.E.D question?

So has anybody hooked up aftermarket L.E.D.s after they dusted thier stock brake light? I can't seem to get mine to work and could use a little advice on the matter. More specificly the wiring sequence and if I need any capacitors etc.

mines still working even though theres noting coveringing it. My friend rearended me and broke the lense. Its been coverd in mud and washed with the circut board showing and nothing has happend to it.

not quite what I meant, the stock light has been removed and I was going to replace it with a couple of small LED's mounted under my tool storage area. I just can't seem to figure out the wiring to make them work.
