What kind of tires do you people use for studded ice tires?

My buddy used a set of stock ohtsu 400ex tires that were worn down pretty good and put 44 ice chisels for a snowmobile in them, then just ran a tube, (on his 450R) at first we couldn't get it to break loose at all on ice. He was drag racing sleds and killin em off the line. Now that they are worn it doesn't hook up as good but still has a nasty bite!

Just buy a knobby tire and stud them up . I can't remember the name of them , but its a knobby with a very hard lug , so that the studs stay in well .

Nope they are cheng shin ice tires. They have a lot of closely spaced lugs that are all out of line so the screws are scattered no matter where you put them in. You can only use screws with them though. We just got sick of screws and tried the picks. Bites like a bastud in the ice.

Im at school now, but Ill see if I can get some pics this weekend, he actually made the front page of the paper today doing a wheelie down the drag strip. He actually ran a wheelie longer than 1/4 mile!!! At one point he was pulling away from me in a wheelie and I was tapped out in 5th on my stock geared EX. So it was probably about 65ish.

I couldn't afford ice tires so I just shot 352 studs into each of my stock rears.
