ive done tons of reading on no base gasket and a thin head gasket to get the quench where it needs to be and acually in the ballpark of the advertised compression ratio.but i have not read anywhere about when you use honda bond and a thin head gasket it retards the timing and using a advance key to get it back.i think i read that doing this retards the timing about 5 degrees, what about putting a advance key in and get 2 degrees advance?anybody have any input?the more the better....thanks

the cam timing retards slightly with no base gasket. the advance key is for the ignition timing, however, which does not affect cam timing. so to get the cam timing back to stock you'd have to run a cam thats advanced on the centerlines.

search for my threads. Lots of info on this subject. I decided to go with a piston that will give me the real compression (JE, Ross) without the gasket removal for safety. But anyways my thread had lots of info about this.
