Spring and Plunger under cam

Has anyone see the spring and plunger missing or not used at all under the cam of a 400ex. This motor was built to a 426 two years ago and was just needing a little fresh up job . Have not seen this before . It has a Hot Cam in it. Help?

yes it is fine that the spring and plunger is gone with a hot cams cam.its used for the stock cam so the decomprison works
