What do you guys think about this setup? 400ex a-arms and tie rods with 05 YFZ450 shocks? Love the set-up so far. Rides like a cadi!

can someone post this pic for me? Its the top picture on here:

what did you do to make the top shock mount work.

What did you do about the tie rod missalignment, shock stroke being too long, valving, spring rates and bumpsteer?

Jeff I know you know tons and tons more about shocks and probley quads in general than me but man give some of these people a break man. Im not trying to be a a-hole just sayin that not all people have money for elkas and housers or even works and bugards. Just lay off them a little man its just kinda harsh on somebody when here they might have done all this work by them selfs and maybe a friend gave him the stock shocks, and they get on there favoite web site to show it off and somebody possilbly across the country is putting there set up down. Like I said you know more about shocks than me and most of the site. Im not trying to be rude or mean just making a point. ;) :p

By the way nice set up man! How does it handle overall?

I'm not trying to bash nor am I trying to make a sale! I'm trying to get the point across to people that some this parts swapping they are doing is not safe. I would rather see them use their stock parts than take the advice from someone that doesn't know the geometery of suspension and end up getting themselves hurt.

Any a-arm that is designed for that perticular bike will work great. Using shocks off another model will not work so great. The YFZ shocks on the 300 will travel too far and eventually break the ball joints.

Jeff, perhaps you could do a thread on the do's and don't's of suspension so you won't have to go over this every other day. i'm sure you could get it stickied. might even include the proper way to do 300ex/250ex front suspension

jeff is right... and he has every right to say that the setup is not safe... hes just tryin to make people have faster better handling quads...

jeff knows more about it then most of us will ever know and hes helped me out many times when deciding what to buy... when jeff talks 90% of the site and ATV world listens...

its sort of like this... when it comes to building the worlds new super car are u goin to listen to a engineer from a community college or a big university like penn state or something...
