I'm looking for LT a-arms for a trx450 but still undecided on which brand. Does anybody know which a-arms jeremiah jones uses? I'm kinda leaning towards the metalcraft of houser. any body got any pictures or suggestions. another question is who would have this stuff in stock to aviod the long wait?
thanks

All the AZ Pros run LSR DC4s. They just came out with a new generation DC4 thats +2+1s that are the hot setup right now. Tim ran them last weekend in Phoenix along with the new Lonestar LT linkage and swinger.

I bought some lonestar dc-4's and had to modify those to fit my 250R properly...................I'm a fan of houser and lonestar, pretty much whoever gives you the better deal.

while i have never rode this set up, it would be my choice. i am not a fan of the new style ball joints alot of companies are using/fabricating. i prefer the shouldered lower ball joint and the heavier upper ball joint as apposed to the enclosed ball joint design

What are you going to be doing with them, rec diding, XC, MX?? If you want a damn good a-arm for a good price HOUSER by far. I race XC and it seems ARS-FX is the setup everybody is after now. I ran Houser on my 250r and loved them and I know a couple other people running them that are very happy. Yeah roll and walsh are great, but Houser works and you will save a ton of money.

I'm with Pappy, I also like the shouldered ball joints over the all thread style.

What is the other style setup you are talking about. Do you mean the integrated hiem like walsh and gibson or the threaded hiem like Denton long travels or something else. Sorry just dont know what you are talking about. Thanks

im talking about the type that use the ball joints held in by circlips. roll, houser, burgard, walsh etc. i know there is nothing wrong with that type of ball joint, but my personal preference is to avoid them. again, pure personal preference.

i dont remeber who's quad that was, i was checking out the front end and grabbed a pic. if i was racing that would be my set up. and btw....i have never met the manufacture of those arms or in no way know them:p (disclaimer...lmfao)

Me too, I prefer the shouldered balljoint design...

To answer the question, I would consider:

Laeger LT (non protrax)
JB Racing LT
Walsh (if you got big dollars)

In that order...

I agree, I went with the JBs since I found a used set for a good price, and the quality and craftsmenship is definately top notch. I would go with the Laegers or JB depending on which you can get a better deal on, the designs are very similiar as you can see by the pics.

My current setup:
Leager Protrax +2 LT
Elka Quad Rate w/piggies

I personally like this setup, but this is also on a Z440, and I baught the quad built the way it sits. I used to own a YFZ450 which I preferred Walsh on. Personally I would go with Houser or JB, they make great stuff for the 450R, and at reasonable prices. My 440 compared to the YFZ450 is a night and day difference. The Walsh setup I ran wasn't top notch because Walsh isn't cheap, but the 440 with the Laeger/Elka front end is like landing on a cloud, and I love it.

I would recommend Walsh, Laeger/JB, depending on your budjet. I have the standard travel JB's, with Elkas and couldnt be happier

What would be the pros and cons of a set up like Houser vs. and set up with lonestar? And what I mean by that is long travel comes in gull wing style and straight style with lower shock mounts. If I were to go with straight lower a-arms I'd get a standard travel set up. I like the way DC-4's look but still not a fan of the hiem joint tops.

I don't know a damn thing about front ends so that's why I ask.

4StrokeNewbee
02-15-2005, 09:52 PM
thats exactlly what i wanna know. whats teh difference between the two LT styles (gullwing, and bottom mount like houser)
I kinda like the metalcraft but their service could be better. does anybody got a pic of the leagers on a quad?

roostin_dale
02-15-2005, 10:02 PM
Gullwing style is said to have more strength, and also allows room to move the mount for more travel...

If I were to go with straight lower a-arms I'd get a standard travel set up

Why? Even if the LT lowers are straight, the shock mount is moved to allow a longer shock...which you are getting more travel, what also makes it a "long travel" setup is the balljoints....

I am not an expert on front ends, so hopefully someone else will explain it better...

by switching to LT, you will get more travel and a much smoother ride than standard...

I have the JB's and I'm very happy with them. My opinion would be get the JB's or Houser's unless you got the cash for Walsh or Leagers Pro Trax.

Note: I have the JB A-arms, Swing-arm, Stem and, Frame Gusssets/ Powder Coating. Very happy with everything for the price.

I race mx, they are the JB LT +2 3/8 a arms....
i have already looked at LSR web site, but would like to have the numbers for the JB a arms, not the gull wing design.

I like the Gibson/Axis sets up.

Id say either leager/Walsh/Roll/ArsFX are really my favorites but of course i couldnt afford and Lt front end so i just bought a standard travel +2 burgard a armswith elka traiple rate piggy backs.

Sorry to bring back such an old topic but what length A-arms would you recommend for mostly MX.

I am trying to decide on +2 or +2.5,+3 arms with a 4:1 offset. With the longer arms I should be pushing the 50" width. Would the longer make it any better for bump steer?

Anyone know what Natalie and Farr are using length wise?

I am either going with Laeger, Houser or JD. Two of the companies are local so that makes it nice.

H-Bomb09
03-23-2005, 04:47 PM
For MX with a 4:1 offset anything between +2 or +3 is good, most guys try to get as close to 50 inches as possible, I chose +3, but my brother has +2 and he says he sees no reason for the extra inch but i prefer it, so its all opinion on whether you go with 2 or 3

Unfortunately, no. Little far from me. But in a weeks time if you have a pic you can send? What shocks are you running? I am having a hard time deciding; Elka, PEP or TCS. I like the look of the piggyback over the remote.
