Has anyone had problems with their parking brake loosening up enough to not engage properly?
I noticed mine did this after my last ride. It moved so much on the trailer that two of my tie downs came off.

Well I don't know what kind of quad you got,,but the e-brakes on a 400ex are useless,,,remove it or you'll also go thru brake pads like crazy..

Are you using your parking brake to keep it from moving on the trailer? I wouldn't trust the parking brake for anything really..

I have a 2002 400ex (all stock--for now....)

This may be a really idiotic question, but how will it wear out the brake pads???

No, I wouldn't trust anything but the tie straps. And even then I keep a good eye on it. I just use it as a safe guard to know that the bikes wheels won't be rollin around...just in case. Guess I won't do that any more.
I played with the tensioner bolt and decided that was a bad idea, real small margin from parking brake working to brake constantly rubbing on the disc. Not the best setup.
Even when the brake doesn't engage there is still tension on the lever--which I thought odd.

That adjusting bolt if not adjusted properly can put tension on the brake pads and wear them out quick. Rico is right, remove it and get a parking brake block off kit. You can get them from the exriders store!

I just got a e-brake block off. It is the best 10 bucks I have spent on my quad. My back brake was always rubbing. Now it is gone and I have no worries. BTW mine never worked anyways.

Interesting info! Thanks much. Guess that will be the first mod I do.
Are the block off's pretty easy to install. I would have to assume that the package includes instructions.
Thanks again!!;)

Most of them don't come with instructions but they are pretty straight foreward! If you have problems just ask around on here.

Mine didn't include instructions, but it is really simple. Just follow the cable, from the parking brake assembly and just undo everything that holds the cable down, and then undo the two allen bolts on the rear brake where the parking brake attaches, remove the cable and then put the block off on.

Sure glad I joined this whole deal. Seems to be the best source of info I have come across.
Much appreciated :D

I will be back with questions if I have any problems.
