so we went up to the lake on our wheelers and a buddy of minbe showed up[ on his new rx1
he got off it and handed me his helmet and was like take her for a while
i was like ok!
omg thats the fastedt sled ive ever ridden! i went 106mph on it and it felt like i was driving a cadillac
the only bad part is that he didnt have studs in the track but if he did rest assured id be wheeliing that thing with no problem
whats cool is that it sounds just like a street bike
anyway i took it for like 1/2 hour and had a lot of fun
anyone else have one or ridden one??

Yup, I liked it, riding a snowmobile on the east coast without studs, is like throwing turds at a wall in my opinion.

I'm still undecided on what to buy next. An rx1 with a turbo trail setup is tempting. I need to try out a rev, its the only new one I haven't rode yet.

they say that a turbo for the rx1 gives it 330 hp

but i reallt like the ride of it .its very smooth and not only that
when you ride it the tailpipes keep your *** warm and thge heat exchangers keep your feet warm
its a very comfy sled and i would buy one

I went out on Lake Delavan in WI on sat. There were doing the 1000 ft drags. they had an rx1 turbo out there it was doing 140 mph in the drag. it was the fastest thing out there. they skis were mostly off the ground when it raced.

just incredible.

rx1s are cool but they are the heaviest thing known to man. if you ever happen to have to role one back over it will take more then one guy for sure. the srx was the fastest stock sled for a loong time. i ride a 2000 yamaha mountain max and its a 700 tripple, and from 0 to bout 80 i will most likely beat anything else out there. but granted i have way more hoock up with a long track. id have to say the fastest sled right now is the new AC f7 snopro. those will hit about 108 on a radar gun. i hate to be the guy who has to say this but there is no way a sled will run 120. unless its a full mod ice race sled. they will say that on the speedo but after about 100 they are way off.

the rx1 is so smooth though i actually had a chance to look at the speedo and since its digital i watched it go 96...97...98...99...100...101...102...103...104... 105...106 and then i ran out of room but damn was it fun

i watched some snowmobiles at the drag strip this last fall in idaho, a couple were doing ~140 mph in the 1/4 mile... i have no idea what models, etc... but i know they had to have a slick track & wheels up front, and to be running 140, they were not stock.

over here in the western powder and big hills we call them RX1tons those things are very heavy on the east they may be cool but over here i would take my m7 over that tank any day ... unless of course the RX1 had a titanioum (sp) chassis and a bender turbo then i might change my mind

i doubt that, that thing is HEAVY.......... lotta power tho!

2001-400ex'er.....what year is she?? i have a 98 and she does almost 120. but my dad just picked up a 800 xc, it makes the 700 look slow. in a drag race, he just pulls steady away from me.

I have an SRX, its faster then a stock RX1, but will never beat one with a turbo. Not much will. I like them alot too, they are really comfertable to ride.

If the guy with the SRX wants to make his handle better there's a few things you can do. Starters is a 2 inch riser,ROX slead treads, and usi vx301 ski's. 192 studs and 10 inch carbides for an aggresive setup like I have.

You can get ohlins clickers, elkas' works or whatever you want. I run ohlins clickers.

But for a cheap long travel upgrade. Got to your local yamaha dealer and as for the "Viper shock update kit) You get all 4 rebuildable viper shocks for 310.00 They have 2 more inches of travel at each end.

The longer transfer rods, limiter straps and the shocks will cost you 460.

Most big bore twins don't see 110 on the radar(speedometers are way off except for actic-cat digitals), without taller gearing or motor work. We have a tottaly built 03 800 xcsp. It will beat my srx out of the hole, and stay there for a while until I walk past it. If you want a quick slead for 660 a big twin can be a good setup. But for an all out drag machine, and a topend lake runner pick up a tripple.

i have a SXR700 Tripple and a skidoo 500 double, the 500 is piped and has a clutch kit, plus custom graphics ( 18hp :blah: ) when you ride them, the 500 kills the 700 off the line, but once that 700 hits its midrange, the 500 cant touch it. and the 500 is studded too. The 700 in my oppinon isnt the greatest handling sled. the 500 definitly out handles it. but the suspention on the 700 is a lot smoother. Either way both are a blast to ride, but the 700 is my favorite:)
