i personally like shifting with your feet. I own a 2001 Rancher and havent had any probs with it other than the time i jumped this fallen down tree wen i landed it shut off. it was my fault tho lol

I almost got the Rancher AT, but the price was just a couple hundred less than the Foreman ES, which is what we wound up buying.

Personally, I'd get the ES- just because if you're ever in water, you dont have to get your feet wet.

I have never hit the buttons when my hand slipped. Also my ES has never messed up.

i like my rancher for mudding but when it comes to trail riding and jumps OUCH....its way to stiff and not friendly.

(No jeff we haven't installed the new shock yet, so we will see if that lossens the ride more)

I thought the same as you dude, but then i rode my dads for a while, and the ES is soo nice, you dont miss foot shifting once u start shifting with ur thumb. Its very usefull is the woods/water too. Great 4x4 option... however it wouldnt be good on any race machines, but I think its something all 4x4 should have. Great idea from Honda once again !

I prefer shifting with my feet, I dont really like those buttons. I have ridden both the ES and the regular versions...thought I am used to shifting with my feet...so pressing the buttons is definitely not what i am used to.

and about getting your feet wet....if your gonna go mudding or water riding, you are going to get muddy, wet, dirty, etc..not a matter of if but when...thats why I got waders for when i go mud riding lol
