kk ppl have said if you just take about a week taking it easy like just gettin to know the power, is that a good way to get used to the power?

i rode a ttr125 once, its like riding a honda xr100..slowww but then again im 6'2 215 lol you should see me on a pit bike ahhaha its great

anyways

when i first got my 400 (it was my first quad) i was very intimidated by the power, i mean i had never rode anything besides the bike i learned to shift and all that on, which was an xr100. when i hopped on it at the dealership for a test drive i was like oh my god im gonna die. this thing is gonna kill me. but i learned how to ride a quad and all that, and it was soon like nothing..... im already gettin ready to buy a 416 kit to give it some more oomph! but you should be fine, i was, just know your limit, and get used to the bike before you go ripping. youll be jumpin and stuntin before you know it! good luck!

kk thanks for the info, one more question, when do you need to rebuild a 400 like put new piston rings in it? cuz if i get one itll probably be a 2001 or 2000, my friend says that 2000's are too old and the engine will probably be out of them, is this true?

nah thats not true. Hondas run forever unless they are abused. Most likely (since you arent going to be riding too hard for awhile) you wont have to rebuild for a few years. Mine is an 03 and i run down the road wide open throttle alot of times and its still fine. Just needs valves adjusted. Speaking of that I don't mean to hijack your thread but can anyone tell me how to do this and how hard it is?

What did you do? Put it in neutral and tape the throttle on full and let it sit there?

I ride the hell out of my 400's and I never have anyproblems and I race harescrambles, they get hot, hit the rev limiter, get wet, get muddy, get hammered, and get put through hell and never have I had any major problems Honda's are tough as hell you should be just fine.

he said he rode it like a 2 stroke, meaning he kept it really high revs which ur not supposed to do thats why he F*cked his motor :P.

i would keep it in 3rd or 4th wide open for long periods of time around a small mx track. it started smoking and then it just blew.

i bought a 2001 in 2004 and it was like new, i tore the motor down to check it out and im pretty sure it was the stock piston and rings, they looked good for being 3 almost 4 years old..honda 4 strokes are tougher than nails. you can run the piss out of them and still keep goin.
