good woods tire?

i have a 400ex in need of new meats..........what's a good tire for in the woods that is light in weight??

i dont know about weight, but i know the best tires i have ever put on my quad are the maxxis Razr 2's, well at least the rears, they are incredible, they do it all, slide when you want them, in the mud they get you through the tough stuff with the side tread, and they have awesome forward traction on most any surface, i know they say holeshot is the original, but to me the holeshot HD or whatever seems to just be a copy of the razr 2 design with the side tread and stuff..... just my opinon... best all around tire out there.

I've run Pro-Comp rears for years now, and they hold up against flats very well. I've never seen them mentioned on any thread here, but they have stood up to alot of abuse in the GNCC's that I race. The only place you'll find them is at the Honda dealer. Ask for Ohtsu PC301. If the can't find them, I can get the part number for you to make things easier. One thing you should know, even though they are 20x11x9, they tend to be just a little shorter than Holeshots or Razers. I have run them on my 400ex and 450r without any problem, but they seem to work best on a 250r.

I never heard of them. Do they have a site or do you have pictures of them.

ohtsutires.com is the site but they do not show the Pro-Comp. They are considered a racing tire, this may be why they are not shown. They are still available and the part number for the rear is 42751-pc301-01 and the matching front are part number 44751-pc101-01. Your Honda dealer can order them. I will try to get a pic of one of mine for you to see.

I think ohtsu's are the stockers that come on the 400ex

I have also run the Ohtsu 301/101 combination,with much success.They are the same manufactuer as the stock Honda tires but as stated above they are the"race"version.I currently run Razr2 fronts and Razr1 on the rear.I have also had good luck out of the IRazr fronts.I would like to try the IRazr rears next time.I have heard alot of negative coments about the Razr2 reas,mainly that the tire has to much bite.I have never ran them so I really can't comment.I only run a 6 ply tire for XC racing.

They may not be the lightest, but RAZR 2's are hard to beat. For any tipe of terrain you ride there the best all-around woods tire out there right now. I have to be honest though, I have yet to try the holeshots.

i still run pc-101 's in the front even for cross country racing. my curent XC setup is HD's in the rear and pc-101's in the front. even after holeshot s hit the scene many cross country pros continued to run pc101's in the front right up until they started getting tire contracts. they are in my opinion the best handling front tire on the market. I run razr 2's and i cant complain about the fronts a bit, becuase they are great, But as for the rears ITP in my opnion!


Id say go with ITP!!!!! Holeshots, either XCTs or H-Ds

Bandits are sub-par in the rear, but the fronts are to bad.
