Engine Noise

I have a nose coming from motor it kinda sounds like the piston is slapping the cylinder walls. Anyone else had any engine problems its an 05 with about 35-40hours on it. It just started making the noise after not riding it for about a month. Thanks.

I have an 04 but in 05 honda went to cheaper crank bearings, and many people that i have heard from the bearings in the crank have blown out. So i would take it to your dealer as soon as possible.

im taking it monday morning i have to work tommrow and saturday dont plan on riding for a while so they can keep it for a week or so. i just read that on another fourm.


from the other fourmfriend at the honda dealership said some of the 2005 trx 450r's are having trouble with the crank bearings. said they used different bearing which are cheaper ones then on the 2004's. What gives Honda?

the crank bearing problems were causing problems early on. within the first week or so with less than 5 hours on the motor. at 35-40 hours, it's probably just valves. plus is it the ticking sound of the motor that's normal? it's a noisy engine.

no not a ticking noise or a knocking nosie its more of a grinding noise when the motor revs. sometimes it hangs when you let off and just grinds.

It was the bearings honda is paying to fix it. Dealer told me i will get it back next week. Its not costing me or the dealer anything to fix it Honda is sending all the parts they need. The dealer was trying to get a brand new motor for me but they decided it was safer to just fix this one.
