If you buy 400ex a-arms for a 300ex, and then want to get works shocks, could you still put the shocks on it. Would getting them valved for +2 a-arms be the same as the 400ex a-arms added 2 inches.

Nope your wrong. 400ex stock a arms have the mount moved more towards the tire which requires a longer custom shock around the length of a banshee's so have works make u a custom shock..Works +2 300ex shocks are intended for aftermarket arms designed for the 300ex with the shock mount in the same place as a stock 300ex arm.

I think eventually one shock company will start making shocks for 400ex a-arms on a 300ex.

you would have to relocate th shock mount. that wouldn't be hard.

you wont have to relocate the shock mount. TRX_thumper is right. works will make you a set of custom length shocks, and if I remember correctly, they will do it for no additional charge.

heres what you do (according to works);
measure your ride height (or the ride height you want)
put the A-arms on (without the shocks)
lift the bike to the desired height
measure from mount to mount
call works and tell 'em the length

300ex shocks on 400ex arms will be too short.
