Well..my brother is on here..and he has a 2002 400ex...well the motor just went kaput..its in need of TLC on the frame..rust..ect..so..Being the nice guy I am..I offer to make him a deal...I said that I will buy all the motor parts...as long as I can pimp it out and ride it whenever I want...so he agreeded..thats where you guys come in...these were my plans..heres of a pic of the quad it has brand new kenda klaws on front..and the knarlys are like brand new they look wierd in the pic...

The motor mods will be:
416 Bore JE 10.8-1 Piston..Hotcams stage 1...CRF cam chain...Port and polished head..

The body mods will be

Trans blue frame..
Trans blue bottom a-arms with chrome uppers.
Polished side cases, oil tank, swinger, and repolish the bumper nerfs mounts bars ect ect.
Carbon fiber or aluminum air scoops
450r stock front shocks
Blue outerwares
Polished Pipe
Remove old graphics..
I'd like a blue white and yellow flame graphic kit with a seat..like K&K style or something.
Hubs will be black or trans blue

What other things would you reccoment?..Thanks alot!

You could maybe do what they do on the east coast yfz's and get beedlocks and have a blue ring on the rear

How about a rear shock revalve? I hear that c&d does good work with the 450r shocks.

leave the grafix kit off. If i did mine i just get plastics and keep it clean or go to a sticker shop and have some made. But nothing big.

Oh Ya, ill let you ride mine if you pimp it. HAHA:D :blah:

Steering stabilizer for sure, fat bars, they are all good but C and D can get a good deal on Trail Techs X-Bars. Oury has a good grip that helps with fatigue, and nerf bars. Z.
Here is my R I just finished, GO # 6

i would deffinatly take all the money you would spend on those looks and purchase shocks even if it is works shocks

Well..I would..but it would be kinda pointless..because my brother rides woods..ash dumps..ect..we both jump..and he never bottoms the front shocks..and I have a few times..we both jump it pretty high..but its not in need of anything more then a little more so thats why the 450r shocks are being used..I've herd great things about it...:)

Is anyone running the same motor setup I'm going to be using?..I think it should be a beast when its done.

Black rims would look really good with the yellow plastic. maybe race cut the fenders if you are into that. that always ups the looks on 400ex's i think. That motor will be nice, it will have a good powerband and all the goodies.

 oh brother, so you think since it looks good means it's goin to perform good :huh

porting is just not something for the inexperienced to play around with, matter fact most advice you'll get from the experienced is to pick up a couple of scrap heads to practice on, nice of you to lend him yours, i'm hoping you got a spare since you said old head ;)

yeah its my old one. the one that is on my 426 the guy said it had a "mild" port and polish. I'll post pictures of it when he is done. He did the cylinders on his sled, and they turned out awsome, I believe he knows what he doing;)

What color hubs.

New seat cover?

When I polish the oil tank and other little stuff..I'm gonna paint like the cap trans blue..just to offset it a little bit..I think that will look good :)

Oh everybody lets jump on UglyMotha's back for being wrong. He does it to everyone else and it turns out Mr. Perfect isnt so perfect after all. Doesn't even know the parts on his own quad!! Maybe now he will lay off everyone else for making mistakes.

Im not gona lie i thought that it was some sorta steel also! My drain plug broke completly off on mine last year! I thought it was a light/clean steel!

Anyways dont spend time polishing a stock cooler, Buy an aftermaket!

sampleez
01-27-2005, 03:45 PM
:huh why buy an aftermarket when it's free to polish the stock one. well, i know it holds a little more oil, but i wouldn't buy one just so you wouldn't have to polish the stock one

markk
01-28-2005, 01:47 AM
I agree with u, But oversized coolers even look better i think, H*ll i painted mine the same color as my lower a-arms, and stearing stem, Gloss black!

aluminum that thin would crush like a beer can, it's stamped steel

markk
01-28-2005, 09:35 AM

Gillbilly
01-28-2005, 10:22 AM

UglyMotha™
01-28-2005, 10:39 AM
magnets don't stick to stainless either

there's no way it's aluminum as thin as it is it would flex when you squeezed it

toby400ex
01-28-2005, 11:58 AM
U need long travel Axis all around, maybe a 500 stroker, hiper beadlocks would be a nice touch also.

Gillbilly
01-28-2005, 12:21 PM
