i was wondering if a 86-87 250r motor will fit in an 88-89 frame with out any modifications. i have the 87 swing-arm and all the bolts if it is able to bolt up.

the motor will fit in the frame withought any mods but that swingarm will not fit that frame withought mods. u need to use an 88-89 style swinger still

The MOTOR will drop in without any modifications at all. The frame and swingarm mounts are different, so the 89 frame would require modification to fit the 87 swingarm.

All the liquid-cooled 250r motors (even the 3-wheeler) are pretty much identical on the outside, and will drop into any other frame.

Ive seen the 86-87 swinger on 88-89 frames with minimal mods. The swinger will bolt right in the frame, the only thing is the 86-87 swinger has the void between the rails for the rear motor mount.most people just put a piece of tubing over the swinger bolt to keep stuff out.The 88-89 frame has th rear mount made on the frame so its not an issue.

i ran a 86 swingarm on my 88 frame for a while when i broke the 88. I just took the motor mount that would normaly be used on the 86 and cut the tabs cause the 88 motor mounts are on the frarme.

While the motor isn't in now, I have an 87 motor thats goin in an 89 frame. You just need the mounts for the 89's. As someone else said, on the ouside all liquid cooled 250r motors are the same.
