it doesn't have another end. it is the actual ball joint that i am having trouble with. the threaded part that comes out of the ball joint is what i am putting the lock nut on. i tried putting the quad back on the ground to see if that would help, but it didn't work either. any other suggestions??

Usually thats a sign that the ball joint needs to be replaced.

I dont know about the four-wheeler joints but I know on the trucks that I've done it's like that, if it spins when you try to put the castle nut back on then they are shot. But they're brand new so I dont know man. Glad you figured it out though.
