My son is looking to buy a used set of shocks with adjustable preload, compression, and rebound. The rider he is buying them from is much heavier, but they both ride xc.

Can he make the necessary adjustments with what's available or will he need to have them re-valved?

Thanks

probably going to need a re-valve, which brand shocks? works uses a 30 lb tolerance or so but the big 3 use a 15 lb. tolerance or less. if they are works, he may be alright until he needs a rebuild anyway. if there elka, axis or PEP they may be too stiff no matter what he does and need to be re valved fairly soon to be more comfortable

strap some dumb-bells to the frame:D It sounds like you would have to revalve...thats quite a difference in weight!

The shocks are Works Pro Series.

Think spring rate too, not just revalve. Definitely going to be too much spring.
