I was wondering if it is best to use a sparks advance key or not with a stroker motor.

Im almost positive your not supposed to advanced the timing on anything but a stock or near stock motor. I think I read it on here in the tech section.

i talk to people who do it and have good luck. the main problem is that it will create more heat. with race fuel you may be fine, i am not too sure.

I know in my 416 it does create more heat and sparks recommends not running the key in a built motor

i run it, but i have to run race fuel, and i'm in the process of taking care of a few other things to my head to make her run cool

i've used the key on the 502 for years. it does make it hotter if no additional cooling but it also makes it run torque-y'r too! :macho

no it can be done on any engine, but the temperature goes up alot if no additional cooling as already mentioned. :ermm:

i was thinking of getting one of those but changed my mind since it makes it run hotter. my 416 already runs hot enough to make the header glow from the motor end to the heatsheild on 110 octane gas. its jetted and everything. not for sure the problem.

You have a major problem. I run a degree key and a rev box with my 416 and have never had a heat problem.
