I am in the process of changing my thermostat in my jeep, most of the old gasket is off but it looks like there are tiny pieces that just dont wanna come off......what should i do? is it okay to just put the new gasket on? got any tricks on how to get the little pieces off?

use a razor knife or a piece of sand paper.

if you have access to a air compresor and a di-grinder use that just be sure not to get anything in the engine. if you dont have an air compresser then i would sugest to use some sandpaper or something of that sort

sandpaper or a flat-blade screwdriver is what I usually use.Just be sure not to gouge the surface beneath the gasket or it will not seat properly.
