View Full Version : anyone else have a hard time putting the seat on??

or is it jus me, it's a PITA to line up that little tab under the front of the seat....

it takes time...after about 2 weeks u can do it fast...i can do it in 5 seconds no lie

thanks, I just got this 400ex I guess I have to get used to it.

Yeah, i'm sure everyone had that problem with their 400's when they first tried to put the seat back on. It's just a little awkward because of the battery. What I do is tilt the fenders downward to the left and get that side over the battery first, while still keeping the fenders tilted, push the very front part of the seat down and slide it over the plastic clip on the gas tank all in one motion and you're good to go.
People usually have problems because they try to hold the fenders level while trying to put them on but the battery simply doesn't allow this.

ive had mine for a good while and its still a PITA. Good excuse to buy an aluminum airbox to relocate the battery though. :p

i run without the seat, it saves 2 1/2 pounds and i can feel a sufficient increase in power

I also found that it was more difficult to do with my maier plastic. With my factory stuff it went on like butta....

Thats exactly what i do to.. i never seem to have any trouble putting it in i could do it with my eyes closed :p
