i just wanted to ask what everone used to take pics in the dunes. i have a digital camera, but i dont want to fill it full of sand. my first time i used just a straight disposable camera...it got so sand filled that it stopped working after 4 pics. so i started using water-proof disposable cameras...no problems with sand now, but the quality sucks, and you have to be very close for them to turn out.

so what does everyone use?

We've been using our same Fuji digital in the dunes and out on the boat for the last 3 years. Has a little trouble with auto focus now sometimes and the zoom is a little crunchy.

i have a good camera case for traveling on the dunes but i recently ruined my wifes camcorder while recording on a windy dune. sand got all it and ruined the tape head.

My friend has a Canon A70 and a waterproof case for it. It works fine and has been dropped in the sand many times. I use my digital camcorder (Canon ZR65mc). Bought it from BestBuy and purchase their service plan, and they clean it and once a year for free.

I keep it in a ziploc bag, never use it on windy days, and keep distance from the action.

For my zr65mc about $135 for 5 year plan. It also covers theft (police report required).

I just purchased the Canon EOS Digital through company vendor and purchased a 3 yr plan for $100.

I use a Minolta 35mm that I bought awhile back, not sure if they still make it, but it's completely waterproof, and it takes the three different sizes of pics, including the panoramics. Most of the time it rides along with me in the airbox, so it's all beat to hell, but still takes awesome pics. Best camera I ever bought!
