I was looking at dirt bikes on the internet and i saw the atk 700. I was reading about it and i saw that it is a two stroke! A 700cc 2 stroke! How fast does that go? If anyone has one respond back.

i thought they stopped making those? i read a review about them and they said they had a ton of torque. a 500cc dirt bike isn't much faster than a 250, but it's got the torque...

They also make a 500, 620 and the 700. there all 2 strokes. i dont think there that much money either. i agree with riggsracing, they should use the motor on quads, or atleast use the 500.

They will still make the big 2 strokes uppon request. They will not put the motors in a quad.

Why do companies put larger more powerful motors in bikes then quads?

Jeff, what ever happened to ATK producing their own quad? We're plans scrapped so that they can go full throttle into the whole Cannondale thing? Also any clue as to whether ATK plans to have some new plastics next year for their quads so that they have their own identity? Alot of people don't know the difference between an ATK and Cannondale.

I wonder the same thing too. You would think that eventualy with only one skinny tire a dirt bike would eventualy just keep spinning the tire, and never gripp. Quads have 2 much wider tires, it only makes sense to put a bigger motor into a quad. I wonder who will be the first to make a hybrid quad out of that motor.

Ya, the Cannondale is working so good for them that there was no since in producing another one. It would be exteremly hard to top the Cannondale.
All I can say about the plastic is they have the 04 prototype fenders that Cannondale had built.

Atk now has the winning combination with the cannondale they have the engine enhancements and now with a new pony working for them they have the best overall factory race quad and a warranty that will stand even if you told them you "RACED" it they know its a race quad!

There is a new big bore two stroke power valve quad coming.. It's not coming from ATK. It is a builder who is the best of the best. Don't ask me who it is I won't tell you.. I suspect it will be out for the 07 model year????

It is easier to handle that much power on two wheels vs four? I am not sure how you figure that???

Sandgod4, can you give any hints?;)

Also what ever happened to that Storm Cyclone 650R or whatever? Any ideas what became of that machine?

The Storm is a POS and this motor is gonna slaughter it.. Sorry I can't give any info, I suspect it will cost around 12k and if it turns out like it could it will be worth every penny.. I don't know the price. You can't put a price on soemthing that isn't complete yet..

Dale512

Just wondering why you call the Storm a POS, I mean it's mostly aftermarket. Is there some major problem with the engine or anything? I know its way, way over priced but thats a different discussion. I would just like some reasons as to why you call it a POS, because just calling it a POS without any reasons sounds like the same narrow-mindedness that many people have about the ATKs and Cannondales. Have you seen a Storm run or rode one?

Not trying to be a smartass or anything, just looking for some info.

The 685cc Maico it uses doesn't rev at all. It is a pv and ATK has sold those motors in the Intimidator. The 620 revs better and is faster. This is from people who work at ATK.. The motor in the new quad will be made to work much better w/ the specific crowd it is going to be sold to..

You actually are going to have more traction on a skinnier tire, at least in theory...doesn't always work out that way depending on how powerful the engine is.

I am.. I know who the builder is. He is the best of the best.. I can't and won't say.. Brad is a friend and I live a few miles from him.. I only post in respect to him what I can say. I saw the CAAD drawings last year of the motor..

The motor and the builder were at Indy, correct?

By the way,the cylinder looked top notch.

If anyoen really wants to see why they don't put the dirtbike motors in a quad, put a cannondale dirtbike map in a cannondale quad. You will never keep the front end down if you get traction. I did it and then quickly realized, those maps with the increased traction and not very rideable.

I bet they are going to want a fortune for one of these 625cc engines. Does anyone know what the weight is compared to a 450r or a 400ex motor?

Sandgod4
04-20-2005, 07:22 PM
I think they are gonna sell for around 4500 for the motors.. Not positive though...
